Over four decades of habitat conservation
Mission & Vision
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s mission is to conserve pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education and conservation advocacy.
About Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever
In 1982, a group of pheasant hunters saw the connection between upland habitat loss and declining pheasant populations. An organization dedicated to wildlife habitat conservation was needed, and Pheasants Forever was formed.
Then in 2005, as quail numbers continued to decline nationwide, passionate conservationists across the country stepped up once again to found Quail Forever. Together, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s mission work quickly garnered it a reputation as “The Habitat Organization,” a tagline the nonprofit conservation group uses proudly to this day.
The Future of Habitat
It’s our vision that current and future generations of hunters and conservationists are able to enjoy abundant populations of wild pheasants, quail and other wildlife.
Habitat faces monumental challenges in an ever-changing world. If there are to be places for wildlife going forward, we’ll have to work harder, be more creative and build more partnerships than ever before.
Our advantage is more people than ever care about wildlife, which also makes it a time of opportunity. There’s room for habitat on every farm and ranch across the country — to better protect our natural resources and leave uplands and wetlands for future generations to enjoy.
Our Structure
We achieve our mission across the United States and parts of Canada through the dedicated efforts of our nearly half a million members, supporters and partners.
We have hundreds of biologists spread across the uplands, implementing voluntary conservation practices and putting habitat on the ground. Over 700 local chapters support grassroots conservation in their communities, while being part of our larger, nationwide efforts.
These conservationists, alongside our many federal, state, nonprofit and corporate partners, have made Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever nationwide leaders in wildlife habitat — and a leading advocate for wildlife habitat conservation.
Our Chapter Model
Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over their locally-raised funds. This allows chapter volunteers to develop wildlife habitat projects and conduct youth conservation events in their communities, while belonging to a national organization with a voice regarding state and federal conservation policy.
Only your annual $45 membership, which funds Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s award-winning magazines, professional services of regional biologists and representatives, our national conservation education programs and state and federal legislative advocacy, is forwarded to the national office. Find your local chapter here.
